Both the domestic and international terminals at Sydney Aiport have an underground train station. When you have collected your bagage follow the signs to the train station and take the 15 minute train ride to the city. Hop off at Central Station and catch the light rail tram to the Convention stop in Darling Harbour. The light rail station is located near the Country Link platforms at Central Station. Hop off at the Sydney Convention Centre stop, which is right in the heart of Darling Harbour.
The Airport Link operates from 5:00am – midnight 7 days a week.
If you plan to use public transportation in Sydney during the conference, your best option is to purchase an Opal card, which you can buy at the ticket window in the airport station, loaded with enough credit to cover the one-way train fare (A$16.81 off peak, A$18.10 peak) and tram fare (A$2.15), or double those amounts if you plan to use the tram and train to return to the airport after the conference. The Opal card is accepted on all Sydney train, bus, ferry and light rail services. It uses a tap-on/tap-off system. Fares are calculated on the distance travelled between tap on and tap off, and are capped at A$15 per day for adults. However, fares to or from Sydney Airport stations include an airport station access fee of A$13.80 which does not count towards the daily travel cap. If you need to top up your Opal card you can do so at any one of the 2,100 Opal retailers, online, or at an Opal top up machine at selected train stations.
If you prefer to purchase tickets for single trips, you can buy them at the ticket window in the station, or from Opal vending machines. All machines accept Eftpos, Visa, and Mastercard – some also accept cash. With single trip tickets you will still need to tap on and tap off. Single trip tickets for the light rail can also be bought on board.
Taxi : 25 minutes, A$50-60
