Tours

Sydney will be a new destination for many of the delegates. Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales. The Sydney Opera House is famous worldwide and within walking distance or a short harbour ferry ride. Darling Harbour is next to the ICC Sydney and offers many restaurants and licenced venues for casual meetings and discussions – remember November is spring time. This amazing multicultural city offers exquisite art galleries, theatres, classical music concerts, attractive China Town, Japanese Garden, Taronga Zoo, aquarium, and Hyde Park. Many hotels are within walking distance from ICC and offer a wide range of room rates suitable for student accommodation right up to the top-end Sofitel style. The tours will leave from the bus loading area in the ICC, which is close to the registration desk in the direction of the tram stop. We are welcoming you with a coffee & tea station before we will leave for the tour. No breakfast will be served!

    Your driver guide will provide expert commentary as you weave through the city streets to key landmarks. The Rocks At the very base of the Harbour Bridge is the historic Rocks district. Featuring heritage-listed buildings and streetscapes, The Rocks is popular for its markets, cafés, boutique shops and spectacular harbour views. The area was inhabited by the indigenous Gadigal people, before the first European settlers claimed the land in 1788.

    Your Driver Guide will share stories, both tall and true, of the characters and events that shaped this port community.

    Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair High on the peninsula known as Mrs. Macquarie’s Point, the lookout was named after Mrs. Macquarie, the wife of a New South Wales Governor, known to visit the area in the early 1800s. From her convict-built sandstone ‘chair’, enjoy birds-eye views of the Sydney Opera House, a masterpiece of modern architecture and a world class arts venue.

    Sydney Opera House views From Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair you’ll get another birds-eye view of the Sydney Opera House, arguably the most recognisable icon in the world. This World Heritage listed building is considered a masterpiece of late modern architecture and a world class performing arts venue.

    Travel north to Manly to visit this beautiful beach-side suburb.

    You may wish to join the coach and travel by road to return to your accommodation, or alternatively take an optional ferry back to Circular Quay.

    Walk from Circular Quay to Sydney Opera House to join tour.

    A Sydney Opera House tour departs every 15 or 30 minutes, with the last tour departing at 5pm. Tours run every day of the year except Christmas Day and Easter’s Good Friday.

    Running time approx. 1 hour. This time is from when one of our guides meets guests from the Welcome Centre, through to the end of the tour which finishes in the Opera House Entry Foyer.

    This is a low impact walking tour. On the Sydney Opera House tour you will climb around 200 steps as you move throughout foyers and spaces. While there are railings and a number of rests throughout the tour when the guide shares our stories, you will not have the opportunity to sit for any long period of time during the 1 hour tour.

    Uncover the stories, history and magic of the Sydney Opera House with an incredible guided tour, taking you underneath the world-famous sails.

    Meet at the ICC at 13:45. We will then join the Captain Cook Cruises Rocket ferry from Darling Harbour to Circular Quay.

    Our Charted Coach will pick up prom designated accommodation in Sydney and Drive to Tamarama Beach.  The costal walk is approximately 1.5KM and it is recommended you wear walking or running shoes.

    For those who wish not to participate in the walk, your driver will take you directly to Bondi for free time to explore while the others complete the walk.

    The track slopes down towards McKenzies Bay and Gaerloch Reserve. McKenzies is popular with surfers who come up from Tamarama when it’s swimming season and the reserve is a good spot to rest if you are doing the Coastal Walk.

    This area and nearby Marks Park is where you will find Sculpture By The Sea when it is on and Hunter Sculpture Park displays some sculpture year round as well.

    Marks Park offers views north and great photo opportunities south where the winding Coastal Walk stretches out below.

    Follow the path towards Bondi Icebergs along the coast line cliffs.

    On the conclusion of the walk, board your coach for a visit to The Gap, before returning to your accommodation.
